Food came in the door
also some words.
That was all, that was enough.

I spent most of my time at Mesa Refuge seeking
just that – a new name for gratitude.
–Sadia Hassan, Resident 2017
The work that comes out of the Mesa Refuge
has the capacity to change the world.
I am honored to support this special place.
–Michael Pollan, Resident 2005, 2007

hike all the trails, stay in my shed all day,
sleep for hours, pick every flower, drink
all the sherry.
–Tram Nguyen 2008
Mesa Refuge is unforgettable--
my residency enabled me to spend time in nature
and with the good company of fellow writers.
–Rue Mapp, Resident 2015

Last Friday, the board of Mesa Refuge had their biannual retreat at Headlands Center for the Arts! It was such an inspiring space and wonderful experience to be at another retreat center. Thank you so much to Headlands Center for the Arts for hosting us!
